All activities are subject to availability and weather conditions.

Take a ride on one of our boats to a special snorkeling spot, decided each day depending on tides and weather. You pick up your snorkel fins and mask before the trip leaves. Snorkeling comes highly recommended, as magnificent marine life exists not too far from our shores. Rental equipment available at resort.
Snorkeling Wananavu beach Resort
Enjoy a day’s picnic to a nearby island with pristine white sandy beaches. You can spend your day swimming, sunbathing or snorkeling and enjoy viewing the stunning live coral reefs, colorful fish and marine life that live in the area. A long stretch of white sandy beach can cater for those who prefer a bit of privacy on their own. Choose a picnic hamper lunch to complete a truly memorable day.

We offer hand line fishing trips to sheltered reefs. Fish for coral cod, trout and snapper. A delightful way to view the rolling landscape and nearby Nananu-I-Ra Island.

We also offer a trawling trip that leaves at 6am and returns at 10am. You will trawl to outer reefs for sport fish that may include coral trout, trevally, tuna, barracuda, walu and mahimahi. You may be lucky enough to catch a sailfish in season. Rods and lures provided.

Our marina and its surrounding is a nominated marine reserve where we encourage fish life and coral growth. Please refrain from fishing in this area. We will have daily fish feeding in this area at 4pm.

Visit Nakorokula, the local market in Vaileka town and the tomb of Fiji’s last cannibal chief. Ratu Udre Udre was a chief famous for his appetite for human flesh. This gentleman is said to have consumed many human beings before his death in the late 19th Century. The stones surrounding the base of his tomb are how he kept tally of his grisly meals.

You can then take time to see how locals these days buy their fresh fish, meat and produce with a visit into town. You will see how local Fijians shop and maybe pick up some local goods yourself. This bustling little town is the lifeblood of the area and well worth a visit.

The perfect way to relax and enjoy your day. Take a trip with us as we cruise around the surrounding islands of Nanu-I-Cake, Yanuca and Nananu-I-Ra and see them from a whole new view. We stop at Naivari Bay and take a short walk up to an ancient Fijian lookout and treat you to the panoramic view. Then we cruise to another beach where we make stop to enjoy the warm waters for a snorkel or swim. Up to you!! This delightful cruise takes 3 hours.

Less than an hour drive away, take an adventure on our bamboo raft down on of Fiji’s most picturesque rivers, the Rewa. The setting is the lush tropics, and as you drift by you will see many of the crops that people plant on the riverbanks – taro, banana, cassava & more. Sit back and enjoy the ride. 2 to 3 hours in total, minimum 4 people.

Spend a magical morning or afternoon in a typical Fijian Village, and view for yourself the beauty of nature. About half an hour drive from Wananavu is an inland village where the villagers will greet you with a Kava ceremony and entertain you with singing and dancing before they take you on a tour of their village. Then you will be guided on a 15-minute walk (or you can go by horse if you choose – charge applicable) to a beautiful waterfall slide, which gently cascades into a heart shaped pool.

Here you can cool down in the fresh mountain water, jump or slide from the top if you are more daring and take it all in. You are in paradise. Returning to the village, you can see handicrafts on display, which have been made locally and are available for sale before you head back to the resort. Bring bathers and sturdy shoes for the walk. (Minimum 4 people required).

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay given the friendly staff, good dive operation, good food, and comfortable accommodations. Since I was there for diving all of my mornings were taken up, came back for lunch, and then sat by the pool, read, or took a nap until happy hour.

The activities are fun and varied, but just as with most things in Fiji can be quite expensive. The beach picnic is worth it though – for a day spent snorkeling and enjoying a private postcard picture perfect Fijian beach experience.
